GiveMethow is the best way to give to all Methow Valley non-profits during the month of October.
Your donation to the Shafer Museum will make supportive educational programs a reality in these tough times! Funds will be used to support:
Materials and staffing for new children's (covid-safe) hands-on history activities, aiding remote-learning families, parent-teachers and local professional teachers.
Local kids will interview Valley elders about their childhoods for the museum archives
The museum will train docents in leading covid-safe & interactive tours
New research on the lives of people whose stories have been absent in Methow Valley history.
The SHM wants to show today's youth that history isn't just rusty old stuff, but is full of valuable lessons for current and future generations: stories about survival, about solving problems, and about how the past helps us make sense of the challenges we are dealing with in the present. Your gift today will touch the future!
Objects, photos, documents and many remarkable things are preserved, yet accessible in a museum. We consider items that fit within our collections policy.

Historical knowledge helps address contemporary issues, nurtures personal and collective identities, and creates strong communities.
History is the foundation of future generations.
Help preserve and share Methow Valley history now and into the future.
